In the World Food Conference in 1974, food security was regarded largely dependent to increasing food production and supply, and for the first time, provision of adequate food was considered as a human right. In the following decade, the World Bank defined food security as access of the entire population to sufficient amount of food at all times in order to have healthy and active life. the World Food Forum in 1996, emphasized easy access to nutritious and sufficient food, which meet nutritional needs of a healthy and active person.
There are three main factors in definition of food security, namely, availability, access, and consistent food intake.
Proper nutrition is the key to healthy living and it require observance of two principles: balance and diversity in the daily diet. Balance refers to consuming enough of the ingredients needed to maintain the health of the body and diversity deals with consuming different types of foods from all six main food groups.
